One new wedding trend that we've seen pop u pon our instagram feeds is #wedchella and we just had to blog about it!! Wedchella is a play on Coachella. Imagine finger foods, pillow lounge seating areas, cute tents, boho dresses, flower crowns - can you see the picture we're painting?! We love this relaxed and more casual vibe of a Wedchella wedding. Here are some tips and tricks to planning your very own ‘Wedchella’:
What Wedchella evening is complete without the infamous tents featured at the music festival? Of course, these full-size tents can get pricey very fast. Make sure to budget for one from the very beginning if this is a must on your list. OR, check discount party rental vendors, first! Another great alternative could be including a smaller tent for one of your smaller vendors to be placed under. Maybe your airbrush tattoo artist or DJ would fit perfectly in this small space.
Food trucks are IN right now and no Wedchella wedding is complete without a food truck! You can have one food truck serving up unique cuisine, or bring in a few food trucks to give your guests a true Wedchella experience! Even better, hire a dessert truck that does cookie sandwiches or waffles and you've got dessert covered. We never see anyone eating cake at Coachella anyways.
Wedchella calls for more casual attire! Depending on your guest list, they may find it a blast to dress down and for the part. Men will love not having to wear suits or tuxedos, and women will love not having to go out and buy a new dress! Now our favorite part - the bride's dress! The perfect Wedchella gown is light & flowy, maybe all lace with dramatic sleeves or a completely open back. The boho-chic options are endless!
Games + Amusement
Now if you're really going for the Wedchella theme, you must include lawn games & other fun activities for your guests! With that being said, you do not have to rent a ferris wheel to achieve these same vibes. A few cool ideas are giant jenga, corn hole, life-sized chess games or even a pony ride for the little kiddos!
Lastly, but certainly not least, the most important aspect of Wedchella is to play good music! It doesn’t necessarily have to be all music that would be played at Coachella, but we suggest you tell your DJ to stay away from the cupid shuffle and cha cha slide for the night. Go for those cool tunes like Coldplay, Erykah Badu & Florence and the Machine that anyone can get down to!
