Wedding Wednesday | The Top 7 Things To do after you're engaged

Hello lovelies and Happy New Year! We hope everyone had an amazing holiday season, and, like us, are ready to see what 2016 has in store!  We also want to say a big congrats to all the lucky ladies that recently said YES to an engagement ring (and a finacè of course)!  After saying yes, shedding some tears, jumping up and down, telling all of your loved ones the big news and updating your Facebook what?

Never fear, the lovely Kendra from Brilliant Bridal East Valley has put together an incredible list of

The Top 7 Things To Do After You're Engaged

1. Call Your Mom

After you’ve gotten over the surprise and can breathe again, you should call your people.  If you have an idea of who you’ll want as your bridesmaids, make sure they know you’re engaged the day it happens otherwise, they may not think you’re as close as you really are.  If those you love find out via your Instagram ring selfie, you’ll have some pretty peeved friends and family.

2. Treat Yo' Self

For the next month or so, everyone’s eyes will be on your ring finger, which makes getting engaged the perfect excuse for a bit of pampering.  Take the opportunity to spend some time with the girls getting a mani. In the coming months there will be p-l-e-n-t-y of time to spend with your new fiancé while planning your wedding.  So book a manicure for you and your Mom, sister and/or besties! And if you need some nail inspo these are some fun engagement nail ideas

3. Enter our Show Us Your Bling Free Wedding Dress Contest!

If you hadn't heard, we're giving away a free wedding dress to one lucky newly engaged bride!  It's super simple, just snap a ring selfie, post it on Instagram or Facebook and tag @brilliantbridal.  Check out this blog post for more details.  But seriously, a free wedding dress.

4. Agree on a Budget

This number will affect every decision and purchase you make.  Before you start planning or even looking,  set a budget and agree with your fiancè to stick to it!  There is nothing worse than falling in love with a wedding dress only to find it is way out of your price range.

5. Book An Engagement Photography Sesson

An engagement is an event well worth celebrating and capturing.  So with all the excitement of wedding planning and cake tasting, don’t forget to record it.  Plus, an engagement session is the perfect opportunity to get a little practice in front the camera with your photographer!  We have worked with some great local wedding photographers we'd love to refer! Give your Brilliant Bridal location a call for some great recommendations.

6. Set the Date (Or at least the Time of Year)

After all the “Congratulations!” and “let me see your ring!”  Everyone will start asking when the wedding will be.  So be prepared with a time frame you actually want like “next fall” or “spring 2017”.  After you set the date and the style of your wedding get Save the Dates out, at least to those you know will have to make travel arrangements.  For cute Save the Dates that are affordable and eco-friendly check out Paperless Post.

7. Celebrate!

Most of all, if you are basking in the glow of a proposal, bask a while longer.  Yes, it’s true you have a lot of decisions to make in the next few months but, for now, take some time to enjoy being engaged.  Book a weekend away with your fiancé, throw a party or have a family meal.  Regardless of how, before you start down the wedding planning path, just take a breath and celebrate being engaged with your nearest and dearest!
