Wedding Wednesday - 22 Wedding Trends We Love

After a way too long hiatus, we are back in the Wedding Wednesday game!  We love sharing our favorites snippets from around the wedding blogosphere and hope you find some inspiration for your big day along the way.  We know there's an endless amount of wedding inspo out there on the interwebs and we certainly aren't recreating the wheel.  Think of our Wedding Wednesday posts as a curated collection of wedding ideas with a Brilliant Bridal vibe; timeless designer looks without the designer price tag. So to reboot our Wedding Wednesday series, we're going big with this amazing collection of the top 22 wedding trends of the moment from the fantastic people at BRIT + CO!  We've picked four of the twenty-two as our favorites to share with you here, but make sure to hop over to their blog for all 22 trends.  Because, they're amazing.

1. Desert wedding inspiration

Ok - full disclosure - on BRIT + CO this image is used for trend spotting bridal gowns that are showing a bit more skin than usual, either through cut outs, slits, illusion necklines and backs, etc.  BUT we could help but love the desert setting of this image!  Since Brilliant Bridal was founded in the beautiful Phoenix desert, we have a soft spot for desert weddings. If you live outside of Arizona and are thinking of a destination wedding, or want to get married in January but don't want to freeze to death, consider our stunning desert and all she has to offer for your big day!

2. Suspended decor

Get your centerpieces off the table!  Even simple hanging poms or white lights will add affordable drama to your reception or ceremony space!

3. Communal dining

Get everyone around the same table and celebrate your new marriage!

4. No flower weddings

Not only do we love the look of this lush greenery, but flower budgets for weddings average around $2000!  This is a great wedding budget line item to save some green while going green!

budget friendly wedding

  1. Make your wedding fun!  Whether it be a LEGO cake, a Venus Fly Trap boutonniere or cowboy boots as aisle runners, create an atmosphere that reflects your personality and your guests will never forget!
  2. Don't assume that a backyard wedding will be less expensive than a venue.  Venue's often offer great deals, especially if you are flexible with your date.
  3. Use Patience Roses in place of Peonies when you have a limited flower budget.  They have a similar look and are less expensive!

We Love... DIY Wedding Favors

Our We Love... blog series is back!  In case you missed the intro to the reboot of this series, you can read all about it here.

We want to share content that makes the Brilliant Bridal website your go to Phoenix bridal blog.

We know there's a few wedding blogs out there on the interwebs, but we hope you'll join us here every Friday or make a bit of space for us in your RSS feed!

With the dawn of the Pinterest era of wedding planning, never before have there been so many imaginative and unique ideas in one place! When wedding personalization is basically a click of your mouse away, it’s easy to mold your wedding into the exact vision you have in mind. One way to bring your ideas to life is through DIY wedding favors. Favors are a sweet gesture to say thank you to your guests who have likely traveled, taken time off work, bought a new dress or otherwise sacrificed to celebrate your union with you.  And a thoughtful, hand made gift means so much more than a gauze bag filled with Hershey's kisses!  Check out these beautiful DIY wedding favor ideas that are sure to bring a smile to everyone’s face (and your wallet will be happy, too)!

Show off your state pride with these easy state silhouette coasters! You’ll only need a few inexpensive tools for this project, which is great for brides on a budget. Are you and your groom from different places? Create an adorable two-pack of coasters featuring both of your home states!  Having a destination wedding somewhere other than home?  Throw that in for fun too!

Sea Glass Candy

If you and your fiancé have a sweet tooth, skip the predictable candy bar and opt for this home made sea glass candy instead. This gift would be the perfect compliment to a beach themed wedding and it’s simple to change the color to match your wedding vision, as well. This candy is as fun to make as it is to eat and requires just a few inexpensive ingredients.

Soy Candles

For eco-conscious couples, a homemade soy-based candle could be the perfect DIY favor for your wedding. You can choose the fragrance, color, and packing to fit your wedding style or theme. If you enjoy variety, you can choose several fragrances and let your guests choose whatever one they’d like!  This gift does require a modest background in crafting so if you think Martha Stewart speaks a foreign language grab a crafty friend or family member to help teach you the ropes.

We Love... Place Cards

You've spent hours putting together the perfect seating chart that will (hopefully) allow everyone to enjoy your reception and eliminate any potential for drama.  First, congratulations to you!  Finding a spot for everyone is no easy task!  But now that the hard work is over, it's time to have fun deciding on a place card style.  There are so many fun, creative and inexpensive ideas floating around the interwebs, but below are a few of our faves that will add a huge punch of personality to your reception. If you and your fiance love travelling or are planning a destination wedding try these super cute suite case tag style place cards.  They will add a nice themed touch with out being cheesy and they can also double as a personalized guest favor.

For the back yard or out door wedding it can't get any more simple than this place "card" idea.  For upcoming fall weddings play around with using a mix of pumpkins and gourds, apples or other in season items.

An easy way to stretch your budget is to use things you're already going to need to buy, like napkins and placemats, and make them do double duty.  Buy an inexpensive alphabet stamp kit and hand stamp guests' names on napkins or use scrapbook paper in your wedding colors and cut out a "pop up" place card.
