Uneven Wedding Party Tips + Inspo

For the month of April, we're talking all things bridal party. We've talked you through sweet ways to ask them and our fave bridesmaids dress trends! Next week, be on the lookout for the cutest thank you gifts!

Uneven wedding party woes stressing you out? We've gathered some images to reassure you that it's not such a big deal. In fact, we think it's the way to go! Really though, how likely is it that you and your fiancé will have the exact same number of friends and family to ask to stand beside you? Instead of trying to add extra people to each side, choose the bridesmaids and groomsmen you want to stand by your marriage and not just your wedding. There's no need to ask someone just to make your numbers even and these photos prove it!

Whether you're off by one, two, or a few, rocking an uneven wedding party can create some lovely photos! Just make sure to give your photographer a heads up before your wedding day, so they can plan out balanced poses. We've listed other tips at the end of this blog to help you work out additional logistics.

Off By One

These wedding parties are off by just one, and it will take you a minute to even realize which side has more, the bride or the groom (hint: there is one of each). We found a wedding party of seven and thirteen, and it doesn't seem to matter what size group you have, you can still pull off the uneven look.

Off By Two

Maybe you agree that being off by one isn't really noticeable, but you're off by two and wondering if you can still make it work. With these wedding parties, we love that they use a monochromatic color scheme to balance out the uneven numbers. We're not going to lie, it's definitely more noticeable than being off by just one, but we still really like it!

Off By A Few

Are you the woman that's friends with everyone, and you've found yourself off by a few? You may be struggling to decide which of your many friends will make the cut to be your bridesmaids, and struggling even more to find enough guys to stand with your soon to be hubby! Don't let tradition get in the way of having your best friends in your wedding! Uneven numbers will be the last thing you'll notice when you look back at photos filled with the faces you love!

Now maybe these photos have you realizing that an uneven wedding party could really work, but you're still not sold on all the other details. Here are a few tips to help things go more smoothly:

1. Have your bridal party walk in solo with the groomsmen already at the altar.
2. At the altar and for pictures, have the side with less people stand farther apart from each other and have the side with more people stand closer to each other.
3. If the look of an uneven wedding party is still causing you grief, have your whole party stand on one side, or mix and match bridesmaids and groomsmen on both sides.
4. Remember you will probably only get one wide angle photo of the ceremony. The rest of the images from the ceremony will be of just you and your hubby.
5. When your wedding party exits the ceremony after you, have the last couple double up, two bridesmaids to a groomsmen or vice versa. If you're off by more than one, have more double up!

This may make you feel selective or choosy, but honestly you should be! You want to look back at your photos and remember a day where you were surrounded by your closest people! By all means invite other close friends to attend your wedding, but don’t feel obligated to make someone a bridesmaid or groomsmen just because the numbers aren’t working.

Sweet Ways To Ask Your Bridesmaids

The response to our veil mini series was so awesome that we decided to start another one! For the month of April, we will be talking all things bridal party. We've got creative ways to ask them, our favorite dresses and much more coming your way!

You and your boo have decided to say, "I do!" So now it's time to plan a wedding and who better to help you plan than your bridesmaids, but first you have to ask them! That may seem easy enough, but like everything else wedding related, the options are unlimited! Whether you are going to say, do or give something sweet, we have rounded up some of the sweetest ways for you to ask your girls to stand with you!

Say something sweet

This can be a wonderful way to shower your friend in affirmation and of course, flattery! Who wouldn't love being told that out of all the people in your life, you pick them to stand beside you and support your marriage?! Plus, this is a great way to ask a friend who lives farther away. You can stick one of these adorable cards in the mail, and we're sure you'll be getting an ecstatic phone call within the next couple of days! Here are some of our favorites!

Do something sweet

Sometimes, making memories is the best present you can give, and what better way to celebrate your new engagement than with your girls! This doesn't need to be a massive ordeal, you should know best what your friends will appreciate most! Brunch date with your whole squad, tacos and margs, individual coffee/smoothie dates or a wine and canvas night. The possibilities are really endless because it doesn't really matter what you are doing but who you are doing it with. No matter what you choose, as long as you make each of your bridesmaids feel special, they will love it!

Give something sweet

There are lots of fun items that you can give to celebrate your new bridal squad, but the sweetest gifts of all are treats! You can buy in bulk or mix-n-match bridesmaids to desserts.

For the sweet and salty loving bridesmaid we've got Fatty Sundays chocolate covered pretzels. These fun sprinkled ones aren't your only options. They have every type of chocolate and color of sprinkles imaginable! They even have a white chocolate with white, round sprinkles "Will you be my bridesmaid?" option for $9 each.

Pinterest is just filled with the most darling cookies that can be customized to ask each of your bridesmaids the big question. We recommend visiting your local bakery or requesting a quote online to get the freshest cookies. A lot of the Pinterest options said they would be delivered fresh, but with so many talented local bakers why hassle with shipping baked goods in the mail!

For a cost effective option we've pulled together all the links you'll need to make creating this DIY a breeze. It's an update on a timeless classic, chocolate dipped rice crispy treat in the shape of hearts.
