With the new year comes new trends, new ideas and a new Pantone Color of the Year! And this year's color is Ultra Violet. According to Pantone’s website, Ultra Violet is an energizing shade that inspires connection. They also mention this color “communicates visionary thinking that points us toward the future," which is so fitting for a wedding day where couples vow their whole futures to one another.

Picking wedding colors comes down to your personal style and coordinating with your selected theme. So to help get your creative, wedding-planning juices going, we're sharing a few ways to rock the new Pantone Color of the Year! Looking forward to 2018, you'll see favorites from this past year, but with a fun, new twist!

Maybe you're a big fan of the new Color of the Year or maybe you really can't imagine it being part of your day at all. We've heard lots of mixed reviews on this new hue; we think it's helpful to visualize this shade as more of an accent color and add it in sparingly. If you've already picked your wedding colors, not to worry there is still good inspo in this blog for you, as most of these ideas can be modified for any color scheme!

Geodes

Geodes add an organic element and unexpected texture to everyday wedding items. They come in a variety of colors, but these Ultra Violet babies will add some personality to your tablescapes. And we love any wedding item that does double duty like these name cards that your guests can take home as wedding favors!

Florals

Unique floral items are all the rage. We're seeing this trend everywhere, from floral flavored desserts and mixed drinks to artisans soaps and candles. You can even make your own flower lollipops, and if you get good at it, this could be a fun favor for your guests!

Tip: If you're thinking 'go big or go home' with your florals, make sure you talk through with your florist and/or planner how to repurpose your ceremony flowers. Not just so they are reused in your reception, but for after the wedding, as well. Here's a list of ideas from Loverly, in case you need some inspiration.

Galaxy

Ultra Violet was born for the galaxy theme, with it's futuristic undertone and mystical quality. It would make the perfect wedding theme for the bride that's super into astronomy or honestly, just can't get enough of the galactic goodness!

Marble

If pairing Ultra Violet with a monochromatic color palette is too overwhelming, try muting it with whites and metallics. These lighter hues tone down the intense color creating a softer look, while still adding a pop of color.

Are you planning on using any of these ideas in your 2018 wedding, or which wedding planning idea was your favorite? We'd love to hear about your vision. Leave us a comment below!
